The National Primary Schools Chinese Story-Telling Competition 2025
The school is proud to share that Lim Yu Chen from 2E has achieved the remarkable feat of becoming one of only 15 finalists in the 20th National Primary School Chinese Storytelling Competition Grand Finals. This prestigious competition is jointly organized by the Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan and the Singapore Middle School Chinese Teachers’ Association.
Yu Chen's achievement is especially commendable as he competed against 131 students from 69 schools across Singapore—the largest participation in recent years. His success in reaching the finals is a testament to his outstanding storytelling skills, confidence and passion for the Chinese language, and he has done our school proud through his impressive performance.
29th National Primary Schools On-the-Spot Chinese Creative Essay Writing Competition
Our students have done the school proud by achieving outstanding results in the 29th National Primary Schools cum 16th Singapore-Malaysia-Brunei On-The-Spot Chinese Creative Essay Writing Competition. This was jointly organized by the Singapore Foochow Association, the Singapore Chinese Teachers' Union and the Singapore Writers' Association.
Since its launch in 1995, this competition has promoted Chinese culture and encouraged creative writing. This year, it attracted over 600 participants from schools across Singapore, Malaysia and Brunei. We are very happy to share the following good news:
• Lahri Arushi from 6E won the Outstanding Award, Category 丁
• Ong Xi Min, Charlotte from 5D won the Merit Award, Category 乙
8th National Text Recital Competition
We are proud to share that Lim Yu Chen from 2E achieved an outstanding Bronze Medal in the individual category of the 8th National Text Recital Competition. His achievement is particularly commendable given the exceptional level of competitiona record-breaking 2,525 students from 272 schools across Singapore submitted over 1,400 video entries.
Yu Chen was recognized for his excellent vocal articulation, fluency and commanding stage presence. This prestigious competition, jointly organized by leading educational institutions including the Committee to Promote Chinese Language Learning (CPCLL), aims to enhance students' Chinese language reading proficiency and deepen their appreciation of Chinese literature. Yu Chen's success demonstrates not only his linguistic abilities but also his dedication to mastering the art of textual interpretation and performance.

National Public Speaking Competition
The National Public Speaking Competition (NPSC) is a premier contest for students in the Primary and Secondary categories. Each year, contestants test their skills against the nation’s top speakers, gaining invaluable experience along the way. Now in its 12th year, the NPSC stands as one of the country’s largest and most prestigious platforms for aspiring communicators to shine..
This year, Patil Khyati Mayur from Primary 6F has raised the bar, clinching 1st place nationwide! She dazzled the audience with her poise and eloquence, excelling in both the prepared and impromptu speech rounds. Her composure during the impromptu segment, where she spoke on the challenging topic “How would you comfort your friend if they lost a speech contest?”, kept the judges and audience rapt with attention. Looking back on her journey at UPS, she attributes her success to the rigorous training from the ELDD Club and the dedicated guidance of the English Department teachers. Together, they have nurtured in her resilience, determination and the courage to rise to every challenge. Heartiest congratulations and kudos to her for doing the school proud!
The Moo-O Awards 2025
The Singapore Moo-O Awards is a nation-wide digital storytelling competition for Primary 2 students, celebrating their ability to read aloud expressively in English Language through the Moo-O videos they create. The Awards aim to inspire young learners to improve their reading skills and foster a lifelong love for the English Language through a fun, engaging and immersive reading experience.
Alayna Miasarah Binte Muhammad Yusof (2B), Nur Yasmin Binte Mohammed Helmi (2D), and Lim Yu Chen (2E) did our school proud when they garnered a Bronze Award at the recent Moo-O Awards 2025! In preparation for the competition, the students dedicated many weeks to practising their pronunciation, intonation and expression. They also worked closely with their teacher and peers to refine their storytelling skills, demonstrating resilience and a positive learning attitude throughout the process.
In doing so, they exemplified school values and 21st Century Competencies (E21CC) of Communication, Collaboration and Information Skills, as they effectively conveyed emotions through speech and worked as a team to produce a captivating digital story. Keep up the good work, children!

NWCDC School Partner Award
The NWCDC School Partner Award honours schools within the North West district for their meaningful contributions to the community through active participation in North West Community Development Council (NWCDC) initiatives. Bangsawan Cup (Opera Theatre Competition)
held at the Woodlands Regional Library Auditorium. This traditional Malay opera competition provided a platform for students to showcase their creativity, teamwork and love for the Malay language through drama.
In the weeks leading up to the event, the students trained diligently, showing great commitment and enthusiasm. Their hard work shone through during the full-dress rehearsals where they embraced the experience of performing in costume and using props.
On the day of the competition, Malay Language teachers and Parent Volunteers rallied together to accompany and cheer on the students. Our young performers performed confidently and delivered a remarkable show before a panel of judges and public audience.

River Valley High School Vivid Voices Public Speaking Invitational
Our school proudly participated in the inaugural River Valley High School Vivid Voices Public Speaking Invitational 2025. Organised by River Valley High School through its oracy talent programme, Vivid Voices, this one-day competition promotes the creative, persuasive and accurate use of the English language. It also provides an excellent platform for students to build confidence and grow as effective speakers. Excited by the opportunity to be part of a community of passionate young orators, our school enthusiastically nominated students to take part in this enriching experience.
